'Unseen' Prince Philip family picture taken by Kate Milddleton released by Royal Family

A previously unseen photo of Prince Philip, surrounded by seven of his great-grandchildren, has been released.

The heartwarming snap, taken in 2018, was published on Tuesday following the Duke of Edinburgh's death at the age of 99.

The moment was captured by The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, inside Balmoral Castle and includes her three children.

One of those children, Charlotte, playfully waves while sat between both the Duke and the Queen.

Twitter users praised the image. One said Charlotte "must be the life of every party", while others praised Kate's "lovely photography"'.

It was made public ahead of the Duke's funeral on Saturday.

He died peacefully on Friday morning at Windsor Castle, two months short of his 100th birthday.

Tributes have flooded in from across all walks of life.

Among them, moving statements were made from both Prince Harry and Prince William.

In his tribute, Harry - The Duke of Sussex - said his grandfather was “a man of service, honour and great humour, adding that “he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ‘til the end”.

And in a statement, Prince William spoke of his grandfather's relationship with wife Kate and expressed his gratitude for the “kindness he showed her”.
