Unseen Harry and Meghan footage from Oprah interview could be shown on ITV

ITV are keen to show unseen footage from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

It's now been two weeks since the world's eyes and ears fell on the couple's sit down chat with the talk show legend, which brought a number of revelations, including a claim that a member of the royal family raised concerns about 'how dark' their son Archie's skin would be and Meghan saying she was refused help when she struggled with her mental health.

The interview caused a storm on both sides of the Atlantic, with the fall out from it leading to Piers Morgan quitting Good Morning Britain and Prince William saying the royal family weren't racist when questioned during a public appearance, with him said to be 'very upset' by claims made by Harry and Meghan.

The interview aired for 1 hour 45 minutes but in reality it lasted over three hours, meaning there is plenty of footage that viewers have yet to see.

And, after 12 million tuned into to watch it, the Sunday People reports that ITV want to show the rest.

An industry source told the publication: “There is a lot of interest in showing the interview in full.

“The original programme was the biggest show of the year so far in the UK and was bought by firms around the world.

"Showing more of it would be a guaranteed ratings winner.

"Oprah’s production company know they’re sitting on a goldmine so it’s possible a deal could be done.”

ITV are said to have forked out £1million to land the Harry and Meghan interview but, while viewing figures were high for its UK premiere, some viewers were angry that it shunted hit drama Unforgotten off air, meaning they had to wait an extra 24 hours for its latest episode.
