Unseen footage shows what Cristiano Ronaldo said to Pepe before Champions League exit

Juventus vs Porto turned into a nightmare for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The superstar saw his Juventus side dumped out of the Champions League in dramatic fashion, raising serious question marks over his future in Turin.

The game was also significant for Ronaldo for another reason - it meant he got to take on former Real Madrid and Portugal team-mate Pepe for the first time as an opponent.

And new footage released by the Champions League, unseen at the time of the game, shows how much that meant to Ronaldo as it captured a private chat between the pair.

Pepe looked to be forced off early on in the second leg of their last-16 tie when he went down with an injury.

He needed medical attention as Juventus prepared for a corner and Ronaldo was adamant he needed him to stay on.

"Carry on playing,” Ronaldo said as he shook Pepe’s hand as he left the pitch.

“I'm going to win and it's going to be with you on the pitch.”

Pepe was able to continue but, unfortunately for Ronaldo, he was unable to get the better of his long-time team-mate.

A late free-kick, which went through the legs of Ronaldo, gave Porto victory after extra-time to set up a quarter-final clash with Chelsea.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, has been the subject of plenty of intense criticism in Italy after Juve’s Champions League misery.

Former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has branded him a “failure” at the Turin club.

"Juventus signed him to win the Champions League, but they've done worse with him than they've done before," he told Corriere dello Sport .

"They'd also won the Scudetto [Serie A title] without him. I think he's been a failure."
