Unreleased Beyoncé music stolen in car break-in during Cowboy Carter tour stop

Unreleased music by Beyoncé was stolen from her choreographer’s car in Atlanta, police have confirmed.

According to local reports, choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue told police that thieves broke into their rental car and stole two suitcases with sensitive material tied to the star’s performances.

The break-in occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 8, less than two days before Beyoncé kicked off her four-night run at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium last Thursday.

A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department confirmed to Channel 2 that the incident occurred around 8pm in the parking garage at Krog Street Market, a popular local food hall.

Grant and Blue had parked their black Jeep Wagoneer shortly after 8pm and returned about an hour later to find the rear window shattered and two pieces of luggage missing.

ABC News reported, citing police documents, that the stolen suitcases contained “personal sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé”.

Among the items reported missing were multiple hard drives featuring unreleased music, watermarked audio files, show footage as well as past and future setlists.

The pair also reported several other items stolen from their vehicle, including clothes, designer sunglasses, laptops and a pair of AirPods.

As of late Monday afternoon, no arrests had been made, though police said they are actively pursuing leads.

According to reports, investigators were able to track the stolen items using Apple’s “Find My” feature connected to the missing headphones. The signal directed authorities to an undisclosed location.

“I conducted a suspicious stop in the area, due to the information that was relayed to me,” an officer wrote in the report. “There were several cars in the area also that the AirPods were pinging to in that area also.

“After further investigation, a silver [redacted], which had traveled into zone 5 was moving at the same time as the tracking on the AirPods.”

Surveillance footage reportedly captured the theft in progress, and investigators recovered “two very light” fingerprints as part of their ongoing inquiry.

The incident occurred just after Beyoncé completed the European leg of her Cowboy Carter tour, which launched in Los Angeles in late April and wrapped at the end of June. She has since returned to the US to continue the final stretch of the tour.

After her last show in Atlanta, Beyoncé is set to conclude the tour with two performances at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on July 25 and 26.

The Standard has contacted Beyoncé’s rep for comment.
