The bushfire warning for Burrum Heads has been further downgraded with no properties in the community on Queensland's Fraser Coast under direct threat, fire authorities have said.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) said at 6:30pm the bushfire was travelling south from Burrum Heads Road towards Dreamtime Avenue, Raintree Avenue and Lorikeet Drive to the east of Blue Gum Drive and Pialba-Burrum Heads Road.
Firefighters are backburning and strengthening containment lines and will continue to work throughout the night to contain the fire.
QFES said no properties were under direct threat at this time, but residents should continue to monitor the situation and call triple-0 if residents believed their property was under threat.
Authorities said people in the area would be affected by smoke, which would reduce visibility and air quality.
Resident Samantha King's home is located near the blaze but she has been held up at a road block and cannot contact her children at home.
Ms King said she had no idea until she saw the bushfire warning on Facebook at work and tried to rush home.
"We can't get hold of the kids because there's no phone service out at Burrum Heads, no mobile service, so we didn't know what was going on and we can't get through," she said.
"No-one can give you any information yet because they're all busy obviously, so it's a bit stressful not being able to get down to the kids."
She said she would not be leaving the area until she was let through.
"I'll be as close as I possibly can to the kids at all times because the moment I can get through I will be going through," she said.
