Unpleasant scenes as referee led off pitch after Dublin lose to Longford in O'Byrne Cup clash

This video shows the unpleasant scenes in the stands as referee Alan Coyne was led from the pitch after Longford's O'Byrne Cup semi-final win over Dublin on Saturday.

The midlands side snatched the win in added time with a Darren Gallagher free, triumphing 1-13 to 3-06 over an experimental Blues in Dessie Farrell's first match in charge, Dublin Live reports.

But some travelling fans at the end of the game voiced their displeasure at the Westmeath man's decisions and let him know about it as he exited the field.

Coyne was escorted off the field past the away support and pictures show him being showered in a collective verbal tirade even after he disappeared away from the fans.

Farrell's Dubs will take on Kerry next in the National League on Saturday, January 25, but they may be without Con O'Callaghan for that game.

The 24-year-old was unable to start for UCD in the Sigerson Cup against UUJ after hurting his shoulder in the pre-game warm up.

O'Callaghan is set for a meeting with the Dublin medical staff today, with hopes of a positive prognosis for the Cuala clubman.

It's an unwanted headache for new Blues boss Farrell, who came away with a one-point loss in his debut game.

Con's younger brother, Niall, found the net twice in that 1-13 3-06 defeat.

The absence of the two-time All-Star didn't halt UCD's progress as they progressed 0-13 0-11 in extra-time.
