About 1400 customers in Canberra's north were left without power on Saturday afternoon after an unexpected outage.
Homes and businesses lost their electricity supply in parts of Kaleen, Gungahlin and Mitchell shortly after 4pm, but power was restored before 6.30pm.
Evoenergy, the electricity grid operator in the ACT, initially said on its website power was expected to be restored to the 1393 affected customers shortly after 8pm.
A spokeswoman said a network fault was the cause of the outage and crews were working as quickly and safely as possible to restore the power.
Power was restored to 644 customers before 5.30pm and only 65 customers were waiting for their power to be restored just before 6pm.
The average length of an unplanned outage on the ACT's electricity grid operated by Evoenergy was just under 43 minutes in 2024-25.
The average around Australia is more than 100 minutes, Evoenergy has said in a customer reliability strategy document.
Evoenergy told the territory's independent regulator it had 63 unplanned power outages in 2024-25 that lasted more than 12 hours.
Evoenergy recommends people experiencing a power outage should avoid opening fridges and freezers and switch off and unplug appliances, including televisions and computers.
