Unpaid work for man who bared his buttocks

A drunken 23-year-old who brandished a bottle - and then bared his buttocks in a Perth street - escaped further jail time when he appeared for sentence at the sheriff court.

Brent Conway, currently serving a period of detention at Glenochil, will have to complete 80 hours of unpaid work following his release on September 4.

He will also be supervised for nine months and undertake alcohol counselling during that time.

He admitted repeatedly shouting and swearing in Perth’s King Edward Street on May 30, 2018, and refusing to leave the area when requested.

He was then seen with the bottle before exposing himself.

Imposing the Community Payback Order, Sheriff William Wood told Conway: “Clearly your record makes pretty grim reading for such a young man and you have spent much of your life in custody.

“When you get drunk you are a different person.

“I will, however, give you a chance to demonstrate you are capable of changing.”

Solicitor Mike Tavendale said the accused had previously intended to live with his sister in Perth following his release from the Tullibody young offenders’ institution.

“His intention now is to remain in the Dunfermline area and obtain homeless accommodation.”
