Unnamed investor to build 87 residential apartments in Liverpool City Centre

Liverpool City Council has given the go-ahead for the construction of a residential apartment block in the city centre.

The approved planning application made by an unnamed investor proposes to build a four to seven-story block of 87 self-contained residential apartments, reported North West Place, on the corner of Roscoe Street and Oldham Place.

The plans, designed by architecture studio Fold2 Architecture, include 81 one-bedroom apartments, five two-bedroom duplexes and one, larger three-bedroom unit.

This application follows a recent, separate application for a student residential development of 113 units on the site by the same developer.

However, according to the proposals design and access statement, the latest residential apartment scheme is the preferred option for the developer.

To make way for the apartment block, the current low-rise buildings on the site would be demolished for the project to be built.

The area is part of the Rodney Street Conservation area and is situated within the Knowledge District.

The redevelopment will be a car-free scheme but will instead contain a secure covered cycle parking compound with room for 80 bicycles.

The lack of car parking has been partly chosen to encourage residents to use more sustainable forms of transport.
