'Unlucky' - Newcastle United fans react to confirmed team news for Leicester City match

Newcastle United fans have been giving their reaction after the team news was confirmed for Sunday's Premier League clash with Leicester City.

Manager Steve Bruce has paired Sean and Matty Longstaff together in midfield for the match at St James' Park.

Newcastle went into the game with the majority of the side that held Liverpool to a goalless draw in the final game of 2020.

Joelinton and Callum Wilson again spearhead the attack and with Isaac Hayden suspended, Bruce recalled Sean Longstaff after sitting out recent matches.

Fellow midfielder Jonjo Shelvey was again left on the bench.

Newcastle supporters took to social media to air their views after the team was announced.

Some would have liked to see Jacob Murphy handed a start, with one fan saying on Twitter: "Murphy unlucky to miss out."

Another tweeted: "I thought Murphy was one of our better attacking players v Liverpool."

Meanwhile, a third supporter said: "I like it. Miggy back in the starting lineup and a huge opportunity for both Longstaff brothers to prove their worth."

NEWCASTLE UNITED: Darlow, Yedlin, Fernandez, Schar, Clark, Ritchie, Sean Longstaff, Matty Longstaff, Almiron, Joelinton, Wilson. Subs: Dubravka, Krafth, Manquillo, Dummett, Shelvey, Hendrick, Murphy, Gayle, Carroll

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers made seven changes to the side that drew 1-1 at Crystal Palace.

Rodgers reverted to the team that drew 2-2 with Manchester United on Boxing Day.

Wesley Fofana, Timothy Castagne, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans, Marc Albrighton, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy were all recalled to the starting line-up.

Daniel Amartey, Luke Thomas, Papy Mendy, Hamza Choudhury, Ayoze Perez, Dennis Praet, and Kelechi Iheanacho were the players to make way.

Keeping their places were Kasper Schmeichel, James Justin, Jonny Evans and Harvey Barnes.

Cengiz Under was fit to return to the bench but there was no place in the squad for Hamza Choudhury.

LEICESTER CITY: Schmeichel; Justin, Fofana, Evans, Castagne; Ndidi, Tielemans; Albrighton, Maddison, Barnes; Vardy. Subs: Ward, Soyuncu, Amartey, Thomas, Mendy, Praet, Under, Perez, Iheanacho.
