Unlucky Fife lorry driver tries to wiggle out of trouble after getting stuck in bridge

Footage has been shared on Fife Jammer Locations Facebook of a hapless lorry driver trying to wiggle his way out an unfortunate bridge collision in Kirkcaldy.

The unlucky incident took place on the B9157 yesterday at around 4.30pm near Kirkcaldy, just before the roundabout at Aberdour.

Shocked eyewitnesses were left godsmacked as the driver desperately tried to reverse the lorry after ploughing into the railway bridge.

An onlooker filmed the chaos before posting the footage on the popular Fife travel Facebook page.

In the post they warned: "Avoid B9157 Dalgety Bay to Kirkcaldy.

"Lorry stuck under rail bridge."

The extent of the damage is not yet known.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.30 pm on Thursday, January 21, a lorry became stuck under a railway bridge on the B9157 just before the roundabout at Aberdour.

"The lorry was freed a very short time later and there were no reports of anyone injured.

"Enquiries are ongoing to access any damage."

The crash caused rush hour chaos, with all trains running through Aberdour station delayed or revised.

A statement on Scotrail's website says: "Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge at Aberdour all lines are closed.

"Train services running through this station will be delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 18:45 21/01."
