University statement after alleged racist video appears online following Euro 2020 final

Bosses at Nottingham Trent University have issued a statement after an alleged racist video appeared online after the final of Euro 2020 in which a racial slur can be heard.

The footage was taken from what appears to be a Snapchat group chat and posted on Instagram.

The video plays a voice recording in which one male can be heard using racist language.

The Instagram account which posted the footage tagged Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the post.

However, the university clarified that the allegation does not involve an NTU student.

As yet it isn't established whether it relates to an applicant to the university.

A spokesman for NTU said: "This allegation does not involve an NTU student and as yet it is not established whether it relates to an applicant to the university.

"NTU does not accept any form of discrimination, including racism. If we find that this does relate to an applicant we may take further action including, but not limited to, withdrawing an offer and cancelling any accommodation."

On Sunday evening England’s dreams of a second major tournament win in 55 years were dashed as Gareth Southgate’s men lost the final on penalties.
