University protests around the world: share your photos

Over the past month, academics and students in Canada, the Netherlands and the UK have taken a stand against their institutions through staging protests and occupations.

Many are fighting against the commercialisation of higher education, which they feel has led university leaders to prioritise financial goals over the needs of staff and students. Others are concerned about working conditions facing graduate students, while some point to a lack of transparency about how universities are run.

Lots of you have been in touch to say this is happening elsewhere too.

To get a sense of how this “new university” movement is developing around the world, we’d like you to send in your pictures of university protests and occupations – and tell us why you are taking a stand.

We’ll publish the the most interesting contributions on the Guardian site.
