University Of Texas Austin Issues Dispersal Order After Clashes

Greek university students protest ahead of a vote for foreign private universities in Athens

The University of Texas Austin recently issued a warning to students regarding a 'Notice of Dispersal Order' following a series of clashes and arrests on campus. The email, sent by Assistant Chief Ashley Griffin of the University of Texas at Austin Police Department, cited violations of Penal Code Sections 42.01 Disorderly Conduct, 42.02 Riot, and 42.03 Obstructing a Highway or other passageway. Students were instructed to disperse, with the threat of arrest for non-compliance.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, over 20 individuals were arrested after the Palestine Solidarity Committee orchestrated a walkout and occupation of the school's South Lawn. The demonstrations resulted in tense encounters between law enforcement officials, state troopers, and students.
