University of Nottingham student found dead in Lenton home will be 'missed dearly'

Friends of a student found dead in Lenton say he will be 'missed dearly' and remembered for his sense of humour.

Police were called to Cloister Street on Thursday evening, April 2, after a report of a sudden death.

Officers say they aren't treating the death as suspicious and the man's family has been informed.

The University of Nottingham's darts society paid tribute to Ben Clark, who they say was "found at home unresponsive".

In a tribute, the group tweeted: "Unfortunately, we have to bring some devastating news.

"Thursday evening Ben Clark (better known as Countdown) was found at home unresponsive.

"It has since been confirmed that he has passed away.

"I don't think there is anything we can say right now to make this easier to digest.

"We have drafted this message multiple times since finding out and there are no right words for this situation.

"As we all know, Countdown was a fundamental part of not just this society, but University darts, both this year and during his undergraduate years. He will be missed dearly, not least for his humour, quiz knowledge and darting ability, but for the great kind friend he was.

"We express our condolences to Countdown's family.

"Rest in Peace Countdown, we will hold those final memories of us all celebrating Varsity together dear."

Several other university darts societies across the country tweeted about the loss.

The Nottingham Trent University's society wrote: "Absolutely awful news to hear about the passing of Ben "Countdown" Clark...

"Thoughts are with all of his family and friends."

A spokeswoman for the University of Nottingham said: "This is a tragic loss of a young life.

"Our thoughts are with Ben's family and friends and we will be offering them every support that we can during this difficult time."

Detective Inspector Ed Cook, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Nottinghamshire Police were called to an address on Cloister Street, Lenton, at around 7.30pm on Thursday (April 2) following a report of the sudden death of a man at the property.

“Our enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of his death which is not being treated as suspicious at this time. His family has been informed."
