A University of Chicago employee had their cellphone stolen in a strong-arm robbery on campus Friday.

The staff member was walking on the sidewalk about 6:35 p.m. in the 1000 block of East 55th Street, according to an alert from the university’s Safety and Security Department. Someone approached them from behind, pushed them to the ground and took the phone before driving off westbound in “an older silver car” that was waiting nearby.

The person wasn’t injured, and Chicago police are investigating, campus officials said.

Chicago police didn’t provide details about the incident.
