The competition to get into the best universities is more intense than ever but today's students might just have got off lightly.
An entrance exam dating back to 1895 has gone viral and shows just how tough it was to get into university over 100 years ago, reports the Mirror.
The exam, which was part of the entrance paper for Trinity College in Cambridge, was posted on Twitter by William Whyte, a Professor of Social and Architectural History at Oxford University.
While most of us won't be able to remember what we had for dinner last night, this exam tests knowledge on English history between 1485-1815 - and it's not multiple choice.
Most people were left totally baffled by the questions, we're not even sure history buffs could whiz through this test.
One person said: "This paper looks like you’d already need a degree in history to answer it."
Elsewhere, another added: "Proof that we are being dumbed down to a frightening extent. Our high-school grads don’t know who’s the Vice President of the US and who Jean Chretien was, now look at the entrance exam for Cambridge in 1895."
What did you think, did you scrape a pass?
