Quiz show legend Bobby Seagull has revealed he has been booted off a dating app - following concerns that his profile was FAKE!
Bobby, 36, who shot to fame on University Challenge in 2017, has spoken out on Twitter over the catfishing incident.
The maths whizz and author, who recently starred in Channel 4's The Answer Trap, shared how he did not know whether to "laugh" or "cry".
He wrote to followers: "Not sure whether to laugh, cry or just shrug my shoulders.
He added: "On dating apps, I've had a few people message recently saying I'm a catfish. Now I've been booted off."
He accompanied the post with a laughing emoji and tagged in Hinge - the dating app, which claims to specialise in long-term connections and is "designed to be deleted," according to its website.
Bobby then added: "I'm destined to become an old bachelor with a bunch of Casio calculators, protractors and maths problems."
One Twitter user jokingly replied: "So, what you’re saying is that you’ve become unhinged?"
A second commented: "I can’t believe you haven’t been snapped up already! You are young, good looking, brainy and have a great sense of humour. You will find love, just let it happen. There’s no rush!"
And a third wrote: "Jeez that was a lucky escape .... Hinge has done you a huge favour! You're great and will find someone when you are least expecting to! Just continue being you!"
Another chipped in with: "Aw, Bobby! You're young and a wonderful guy. There's hope!"
A Hinge spokesperson replied to Bobby and said: "We redid our math and have summed up that you’re real! Your account has been reinstated. We hope you find love and can ditch some of those math problems for date night plans."
