The Universal Credit portal was temporarily unavailable.
Users reported issues on Monday afternoon (February 1).
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) issued a statement saying it was a temporary issue caused by 'Technical difficulties '
The DWP said payments are unaffected.
A DWP spokesperson said: “Technical difficulties with a third party supplier mean the Universal Credit portal is temporarily unavailable. Payments are unaffected and we are urgently working to restore a full service as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
At around 5.45pm , the spokesperson added: "The technical difficulties with the portal have now been resolved and people should once again be able to access their Universal Credit accounts."
