Welfare chiefs are facing fresh calls to scrap the sanctions system and make a Universal Credit uplift permanent.
MP Marion Fellows, writing in the Record, made the plea on International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
In an article published below, Fellows identified barriers facing over a million disabled people across society.
She said: "If the Chancellor is serious about fulfilling his promise that he would do what it takes to ensure no-one is left behind then he must make the Universal Credit uplift permanent and roll it out to legacy benefits, and scrap cruel benefit sanctions – immediately."
On December 1, UK Treasury Secretary Steve Barclay told MPs to wait for “more clarity” on economic health before deciding on the future of the Universal Credit uplift.
Barclay said the uplift continues until the end of March, adding: "The Government is not ruling anything out for the future but it is right that we wait for more clarity on the national economic picture before making any further decisions."
