'Unique' Lionel Messi helps everyone improve at Barcelona, says Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen says Lionel Messi helps all the players to improve at the Catalan club.

Ter Stegen reached 200 games for Barca in Sunday's 4-0 win at home to Sevilla and marked the milestone with another clean sheet.

The German goalkeeper has since spoken to the Blaugrana in an interview and said: "Messi is unique. What can I say that hasn't already been said?

"He always tries to help every one of us to improve. He is a very large part of this club and we enjoy him a lot."

The two Barca team-mates could have gone head-to-head this week as Germany and Argentina meet in a friendly in Dortmund on Wednesday.

But the forward is still suspended for the Albiceleste after his controversial comments at the Copa America in the summer and has also only recently recovered from injury.

"It's a fantastic match and we're all looking forward to it," Ter Stegen told the media in Germany on Tuesday.

"For Messi and for me, it would have been special to play against each other once, but sometimes it's good to avoid it as well."
