Your article (Hopes that Deliveroo strike will inspire ‘gig’ workers’, 20 August) rightly highlights a courageous victory. And it highlights how trade unions can help casual and insecure workers. But why does it assume that unions aren’t already doing this? Some unions, such as Bectu, have been organising and representing casual and freelance workers for decades. It’s hard work, often an uphill struggle, but it can be done and is being done.
