Union of Arab Chambers Promotes NEOM, Suez Canal Investment in Brazil

Union of Arab Chambers Secretary General Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Asharq Al-Awsat

Union of Arab Chambers Secretary General Dr. Khaled Hanafi on Tuesday called on Arab and Brazilian investors to get involved in the Saudi mega city project NEOM and the Suez Canal axis.

Hanafi endorsed setting up logistics centers and port areas in some Arab countries for future utility as export platforms.

More so, he proposed added value to Brazilian goods in Arab countries.

Hanafi encouraged Brazilian prospect investors to take stake in NEOM and Suez Canal development during his speech at the Arab-Brazilian Economic Forum in Sao Paulo, Brazil-- a forum pivoted on Arab-Brazilian partnership.

Future economic scenarios between Brazil and Arab Countries are also being discussed at the forum which is sponsored by Brazilian President Michel Tamer.

The event witnesses the participation of prominent Brazilian economic figures and about 17 Arab ambassadors and over 500 Arab and Brazilian representatives.

The 3-day forum is organized by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber, a branch of the Union of Arab Chambers.

Hanafi stressed the need to shift from simple trade exports and imports between the Arab countries and Brazil to a strategic economic partnership and joint projects for food production.

Temer praised the call for an Arab-Brazilian strategic economic partnership and the great role played by the Union of Arab Chambers encompassing the Arab-Brazilian Chamber.

It is worth mentioning that a preliminary study was conducted prior to the forum, which included a number of surveys and interviews with over 1,500 Arab and Brazilian investors to find out the most vital areas for potential cooperation.

Forum attendees commended the role played by the Union of Arab Chambers to strengthen and expand strategic partnerships and create opportunities.

Brazil is the world's eighth largest economy by nominal GDP and eighth largest by purchasing power parity.
