Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, and Skill Development Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday lauded the efforts of the High Court of Karnataka in meeting the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Timely use and adoption of technology by way of swiftly switching to virtual hearings ensured dispensation of justice amidst health crisis, he said, while launching the e-governance portal of the Advocates Association Bengaluru (AAB).
Latest emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning must be leveraged to expedite disbursal of court cases and bring down the pendency of the cases, and shatter another age old narrative about it, Mr. Chandrasekhar said.
“We have to utilise the available knowledge on latest technologies and digitalise the libraries, especially in the judiciary. Latest information about developments in technology and its intersection with law should be made readily available,” said Law Minister J.C. Madhuswamy.
AAB president Vivek Subba Reddy said members of the association can now log into the portal to lodge their grievances and suggestions on the matters related to the association, the facilities in courts. He said that the portal would fill the gap in resolving the difficulties faced by the advocates because of lack of technological assistance.
