Union Jack bunting for VE Day: Template to print & how to make your own printable colour in bunting

Big celebrations may be cancelled for this year's VE Day anniversary but for those looking to still mark the occasion there are many ways you can make your own decorations.

Tomorrow (Friday, May 8) marks the 75th anniversary of the end of fighting in Europe during the Second World War.

Back in 1945, Britain and its Allies celebrated the defeat of the Nazi regime. Wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill declared May 8 a public holiday and Victory in Europe (VE) Day was met with parties, dancing and singing in the streets.

Whilst these levels of celebrations may no be able to go ahead, you can still make your own Union Jack bunting to display outside your homes.

You don't need to visit the shops to make some either. There are loads of free templates to download online and colour in, like this one from PlanBee.

You can also download a bunting template here and get the kids to colour them in.

Bank holiday supermarket opening times can be found here.

Lego bunting is also a thing - with families downloading their own VE Day Lego Heroes bunting via the Colouring Heroes website here.

But you don't have to stick with flags. You could make a red, white and blue paper chain, or go for something different with heart shapes.
