Union Bears 'offensive' Rangers banner revealed as banned message displayed 'police officer as a pig'

The Union Bears' banner that was banned from Rangers' Scottish Cup clash with Raith Rovers has been revealed.

Michael Beale's men waltzed into the semi-final with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Championship opposition but talking points have emerged off the pitch. The lower-left tier of the Broomloan Stand was notably quiet as the vocal section of Rangers' support protested against a banner being ejected from Ibrox prior to kick-off.

The Premiership side released a statement saying that it was an 'offensive' banner aimed at police, although no specifics had emerged regarding its content. But The Herald now claim that the Union Bears tried to 'take a banner depicting a police officer as a pig into Ibrox.' They then chose to boycott the clash and stood outside, with their Twitter account also taking aim at sporting director Ross Wilson as part of their statement. Previous displays of ACAB - which stands for 'All Cops Are B*******' - have been seen from the section at grounds across Scotland.

This 'highly offensive' banner reportedly showed a police officer mocked up as a pig alongside a ‘1 3 1 2’ - an alternative to ACAB - slogan. Next up for Rangers is a Premiership trip to Motherwell next Saturday.
