The head of news and current affairs at BBC Scotland, Blair Jenkins, has resigned. His decision came as a shock to staff and there were immediate rumblings from unions at what was described as "one of the most significant resignations at the BBC since the end of the Hutton affair". The National Union of Journalists' chapel in at the BBC's Scottish headquarters in Glasgow issued a statement which claimed that the resignation should "be seen in the context of the growing anger among staff over the continuing job cuts, threats of compulsory redundancies and the BBC's attack on the staff pension scheme."
