UNINTERRUPTED partners with La Liga for FIFA 20 tournament to raise money for Feeding America

If the coverage of the next couple of days of the NFL Draft isn’t enough to help you scratch your sports itch, the folks at UNINTERRUPTED have partnered with one of the biggest sports leagues in the world to provide some alternative sports programming this weekend.

UNINTERRUPTED is partnering with La Liga, the top Spanish soccer league, to put on a FIFA 20 tournament this weekend that will raise funds for Feeding America. There will be players both current and former from La Liga, as well as the NBA, NFL, and NWSL.

Among the confirmed participants are former NFL star Chad Johnson, Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, John Collins of the Atlanta Hawks, and Allie Long from the United States Women’s National Team. The tournament will be broadcast on La Liga’s Twitch channel. The participants will each be teamed up with another player, making eight teams of two. It will also be televised internationally through La Liga’s various partners, including BeIN Sports in the United States.

Confirmed to participate in the tournament are Chad Johnson (Cincinnati Bengals), DeAndre Hopkins (Arizona Cardinals), Damarious Randall (Las Vegas Raiders), Willy Hernangómez (Charlotte Hornets), Clint Capela (Atlanta Hawks), John Collins (Atlanta Hawks), Allie Long (USWNT, OL Reign), Lisa Zimouche (LisaFreestyle, Soccer Freestyler, former PSG Academy), Álvaro Morata (Atlético de Madrid), Borja Iglesias (Real Betis), Munir Hadaddi (Sevilla FC), Jose Luis Gayà (Valencia CF), Pau Torres (Villarreal CF), Allan Nyom (Getafe CF), Alexander Isak (Real Sociedad), and Fernando Morientes (former Real Madrid CF legend).

Here are the rules according to the press release: With three knockout rounds, each team will play two 12-minute matches with an aggregated score between both matches determining the winner – with a total of 14 matches. LaLiga will define the final bracket and schedule. Matches will take place between 1 PM-5:30 PM ET.
