Uninsured Audi driver caught on 60-mile round trip to 'for something to eat'

An uninsured Audi driver from Oldham told police he was making a 60 mile round trip to Bradford for 'something to eat' after being pulled over in West Yorkshire.

The car, which was also found to have a bald tyre when it was stopped by officers in Brighouse, was seized, YorkshireLive reports.

And the driver was also also dealt with for breaking lockdown rules which usually means a £200 fine.

Details of the traffic stop were shared on Twitter by the West Yorkshire Police Roads Policing Unit.

The Unit said: "Brighouse - Driver coming from Oldham to Bfd for something to eat.

"Found to have a bald tyre and no insurance. Reported to Court and vehicle seized. Dealt with for Covid offences too."

Twitter users were unimpressed with the driver's excuse.

One said: "Is there a food shortage over the Pennines? Is Bradford now the breadbasket of the North?"
