A Grand Design home has been compared to a crematorium by viewers of the popular Channel 4 programme.
The property worth £600,000 is located in Lincolnshire and the barn conversion featured on the show.
The land was purchased by Nathan and Amye with plans to build a
Dutch-style barn with a contemporary twist, the Mirror reports.
The build was originally going to take a year, at a cost in the range of £400,000.
The family home was going to feature a wing for Nathan's teenage children Noah and Eva and a separate annex for his mum Rosie and stepdad Albert, who'd lived in a static caravan for 13 years.
Presenter Kevin McCloud seemed sceptical about the ambitious plans, noting: "Building her - it's a bit like pushing water uphill."
But the build was pushed back after it hit stumbling blocks because the building's foundations were destroyed by floods and delays due to the pandemic. The overall cost shot up to £600,000.
The project was complete in Autumn 2020.
Kevin McCloud likened the exterior to "a collection of upturned boats protecting their precious human cargo".
But viewers had their own ideas about the appearance of the finished property.
One wrote on Twitter: "Well done but it does slightly resemble a crematorium - lovely couple though."
Another added: "Last nights #granddesigns looked more like a crematorium than a home. But each to their own."
A third viewer said: "Watched the Grand Designs in Lincolnshire. Lovely on the inside but ugly as sin on the outside."
But one viewer did say: "One of the best builds featured on the programme."
