Uniform website offers cheap and free branded school clothes to parents

The boss of Uniformerly - an online marketplace for school uniform - has been named on a list of the UK's most inspirational people. Simon Gossling, who set up the initiative for schools and parents, features on the Independent's 2022 'Happy List'.

The list was set up in 2008 as an 'antidote to the many awards that glorify wealth or celebrity' to honour those in the country who have inspired positive change. But what exactly is Uniformerly? And how does it work?

Uniformerly is a free nationwide online marketplace where parents, schools and Parents and Teachers Associations can buy, sell, give away and recycle outgrown uniforms direct to other parents. Members from almost 4,000 schools are registered, including many across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

The initiative has received praise as it acts as a helpful remedy to the soaring cost of living and extortionate branded school uniform prices. The reselling of outgrown clothes also helps prevent large amounts of waste going to landfill. Some clothing is simply given away.

If you are a parent wishing to buy cheaper uniform, you can simply visit the Uniformerly website and begin browsing for items for sale at your child's school. Next, login or register to contact the seller and arrange to meet up to hand over the item.
