The unified Local Self Government (LSG) service will hasten the State's development and bring more transparency, A.M. Ariff, MP, has said.
He was inaugurating the district-level LSG day celebrations at the district panchayat hall here on Saturday.
H. Salam, MLA, distributed prizes to the best local bodies in the district. Veeyapuram bagged the Swaraj trophy for the best grama panchayat in the district. Thakazhi grama panchayat won the second prize. Karuvatta panchayat bagged the Mahatma trophy.
District panchayat president K.G. Rajeshwari presided. Ambalapuzha block panchayat president Sheeba Rakesh, district panchayat standing committee chairman T.S. Thaha and others were present at the function.
