JODHPUR: A tourist vehicle was targeted and attacked by unidentified men at the famous pilgrim place Osian in Jodhpur on Tuesday night.
However, the tourists managed to escape with the help of the driver, who took them towards the town and saved them.
The miscreants hit the abandoned tourist vehicle twice before fleeing. None of the passengers was hurt in the incident.
ASP (Osian) Noor Mohammad said the vehicle of the assailants had no number plate and after the incident, they headed towards Jodhpur. "We have filed a case against unidentified persons and have initiated an investigation to identify and arrest them", he said.
On the complaint of the victims, Osian police have field a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other relevant sections.
According to police, Sandeep Shah, a resident of Kolhapur, was visiting Osian with his family on Tuesday to pay obeisance at the goddess Sachiyay Mata temple. Around 11 pm they left for a drive around the town after dinner, when they noticed a Bolero camper honking and chasing them.
They intercepted the vehicle and around three persons came out and smashed the windows. Bewildered, the family headed towards the town.
As soon as they reached there, they found some people near a hotel.
They abandoned the vehicle on the road and rushed into the hotel for safety. Meanwhile, the assailants chasing them reached there and hit the vehicle twice before fleeing from the spot. Police said they will start investigation and nab the culprits.
