PHRAE -- The mutilated body of a man, believed to have been crushed to death in an accident, was found at a U-turn in Muang district late on Friday night, police said.
Pol Lt Sonthaya Chaiyawan, a Muang police duty officer, said that at about 10pm he was informed by villagers who found the body at a U-turn under the bridge on Highway 101 between tambon Thung Kwao to tambon Muang Mo in Muang district.
The man's head was crushed and face mutilated beyond recognition. His belly was ruptured with parts of the intestines hanging outside the body. His arms and legs were also broken.
He was wearing a pair of black pants and green shirt with long sleeves. No identification documents were found on his body.
Found near the body were a cloth bag, a crash helmet, sandals and canvas shoes.
Local residents told the police they heard a loud noise of vehicles colliding. When they came out to take a look, they found no vehicles but the man lying dead at the U-turn under the bridge.
Police were investigating.
