Unheard song by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr set to fetch up to £20k at auction

An unheard song written by Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr is expected to fetch around £20,000 at auction.

The demo track, titled Angel in Disguise, was written as part of the sessions for Starr’s 1992 album Time Takes Time, but was eventually omitted.

Two versions of the song are featured on a cassette tape, which is being sold from the collection of British DJ Tony Prince.

The first is a lo-fi rendition, with McCartney singing the lyrics over a piano and drum machine, while the second is a full studio version, this time with Starr on vocals alongside “a full backing track, backing singers, increased instrumentation including harmonica, guitar and more,” according to the lot description.

Another demo, this time of the outtake Everyone Wins, is also included, as are printed lyrics and notation for Angel in Disguise.

The cassette is up for online auction through Omega Auctions, and is listed with an estimated price tag of £10,000-£20,000.
