Unhappy Kevin Nisbet frustrated as Birmingham transfer plea falls on deaf ears

Unhappy Kevin Nisbet won’t be leaving Hibs after his deadline day transfer request fell on deaf ears at the top of the Easter Road chain of command.

The 23-year-old striker had appealed to club top brass after Birmingham City had a £2.6million final offer booted out on Sunday.

But the English Championship side have taken that offer off the table after Hibs refused to budge on their stance.

Nisbet will now be in the squad for Hibs’ Premiership clash with St Mirren on Tuesday.

But Record Sport understands the player has been left gutted at a missed opportunity to make the switch to England which would have seen his wages rocket to over £10,000-a-week.

A source close to the player said: “Kevin isn’t happy with the way this has been handled. For Hibs too it was a chance to make a fortune.

“Birmingham wanted to do everything properly so never even spoke to Kevin.”

Nisbet has netted 13 goals for Hibs since signing from Dunfermline for £250,000 in the summer.

Hibs had been holding out for over £3million for the player and refused to negotiate with City after the player’s transfer request.

That led to Brum - who signed Sam Cosgrove from Aberdeen in a £2million deal on Sunday - taking their offer off the table.

Jack Ross now has a job to lift Nisbet - who was left out of the starting line-up for Saturday’s 2-0 win at Dundee United - for tomorrow night’s crucial clash with in-form St Mirren.
