'Unforgettable' - Four years on, Bristol Rovers fans share their memories of Lee Brown Day

"Where were you when Lee Brown scored?" Each Gashead having a different story and memory of that moment, four years ago today.

From the Thatchers End to the East and West Stands, the face of a post and then Brown's slightly tentative right foot in the 92nd minute against Dagenham & Redbridge provoked screams of delight, general pandemonium and ultimately propelled Bristol Rovers back into League One.

The euphoria had to be slightly reigned in by an anxious wait for news of events at the Crowd Ground, but as Accrington were held to a 0-0 draw by Stevenage, a pitch invasion followed, Darrell Clarke was hoisted into the air along with the players, and thousands of different delirious tales could be told around one shared experience.

It's been enshrined in club history, with Brown's celebration immortalised in blue and white outside Temple Meads station and the left-back guaranteed a cider whenever he steps foot back in Bristol.

Now with Portsmouth, Brown largely kept his counsel but did respond to one fan's tweet with the simple message: "What a day that was", while Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie, then on loan from Swansea, tweeted: "Great memories".

It's made heroes of those that were there (with the exception of Matty Taylor, and imagine if his shot had gone in) with Gasheads across the land celebrating May 7 - Lee Brown Day. Here's a selection of some of the best comments, videos and pictures ...

On Bristol Live's Facebook page, we asked Gasheads for their own personal memories of the day ...

Gary Marks: "On holiday in Holland watching cycling. Booked it when Rovers were mid table. Found an Irish Bar that was showing Final Score, by the end of night had a couple of PSV Eindhoven fans singing Irene!"

Morley Sims: "Unforgettable! I was stood next to a female fan on the pitch at the end going mental when she just turned to me laughing and shouted, "I've got so excited I've just pee'd my knickers".

Edward Teach: "Watched it with a friend visiting from Devon while the other halves shopped in town. He told me Accrington were winning, so when Browner scored I muted my celebrations as I thought it didn't mean anything... Still can't believe I missed my chance to go bananas!

"Made up for it later after it all went quiet waiting for Accrington's actual score and it suddenly blew up on the terrace behind the dug out five minutes later and then rippled through the rest of the stadium and everyone went nuts!"

Fred Stokes: "Best day of my life".
