Unfolding: New Indian Textiles

Unfolding: New Indian Textiles
Unfolding: New Indian Textiles

West Australian artist Maggie Baxter has held a strong connection with Indian textile makers for 25 years, and for this exhibition, she curates an array of finely-crafted saris, superb uncut cloth, and street wear by 24 contemporary Indian designers.

Indian designers continue to use ancient crafts, making pieces that are hand-woven, hand-embroidered and block printed by hand. Unfolding presents the versatility of contemporary Indian textiles from hand-made pieces to saris which have been digitally printed with traditional cultural motifs.
