An unexploded bomb found on a Scots street was later disposed of at a nearby beach.
Bomb disposal experts were initially called to Haugh Street in Edinburgh city centre at around 4.10pm on Thursday August 5.
The army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team later took the device near a beach at Gypsy Brae in the city.
Onlookers were escorted away from the area for their own safety and a large area was cordoned off.
The EOD team was then able to carry out a controlled explosion.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said:“ Officers in Edinburgh were contacted after a possible unexploded ordnance device was discovered near Haugh Street at 4.10pm on Thursday, 5 August.
"A cordon has been put in place and EOD have been contacted.”
The nature of the incident and how the bomb appeared at Gypsy Brae remains unknown at this time.
