'Unexplained' sudden death of baby boy being investigated by police

A baby boy has died in Gloucestershire and his death is being investigated by police. Residents had reported seeing a large emergency response at the scene in Berkeley, Gloucestershire, on Sunday morning, including paramedics and armed police.

The death at Fishers Road in the town is being treated as unexplained. The baby's next of kin are aware and the coroner has been informed, reports GloucestershireLive.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called by the ambulance service shortly after 10.40am (Sunday) in relation to a medical emergency at an address on Fishers Road in Berkeley. Sadly, a young baby boy was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

"Officers are currently investigating the death and the circumstances are being treated as unexplained at this time. The baby’s next of kin are aware and the coroner has been informed."
