Unexplained death sparks police search at Mersey golf club

An investigation is underway at a Wirral golf club following an unexplained death.

Officers were called out to Brackenwood golf course, in Bebington, at around 4.25pm yesterday (Friday.)

There was large police presence at the golf club yesterday evening. Officers appeared to have put up a forensic tent at the course and police were seen searching the area with torches.

Today police have confirmed there is ongoing investigation at the club off Bracken Lane but said the investigation was not linked to any current missing person inquiries.

Brackenwood is a an 18-hole municipal course managed by Wirral Council.

A police spokesman said: "We can confirm that officers are currently in the Wirral as part of an ongoing police investigation.

"Officers were contacted at 4.25pm yesterday, Friday 29th January, following an unexplained death at Brackenwood Golf club on Bracken Lane in Bebington.

"A search of the area has been carried out and officers have cordoned off an area of the golf course as enquiries continue today.
