The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) has praised the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej for his development work and campaigns to promote lifelong learning.
Unesco director-general Irina Bokova told the three-day International World Peace meeting, which began at its Paris headquarters yesterday, that the late King was a great man who introduced the sufficiency economy philosophy for sustainable development and worked to improve living conditions for his people.
The late King has left a legacy for global humanity and Unesco would follow his guidelines for inclusive education to improve the lives of everyone, she said.
The event at Unesco was co-organised by the World Fellowship of Buddhists, the Royal Thai Embassy in Paris and the Thai delegation to Unesco.
