Unemployed labourer finds a job just 20 minutes after standing by side of the road with hand-made sign

An unemployed labourer found work just 20 minutes after standing at the side of a road with a hand-made sign, it has been reported.

Nathan Campbell, 22, had applied for more than a dozen jobs and received either a “no thanks” or simply silence in response.

Fed up, he wrote “Please give me a job” on a piece of cardboard and picked a spot at the side of the A77 in Ayrshire.

His plea was answered in just 20 minutes when a builder spotted him, he told The Sun.

Mr Campbell, an aspiring actor, told the site: “I told him I’d done a bit of labouring and he said he admired what I had done and he would give me a job.

“That was the Monday morning and by the Friday he called me and said I could have a start the next week.”

Getting out of the house had made a “massive difference” to how he felt, he added.

In a Facebook post, Mr Campbell said: "Totally shocked at the people who actually stopped for me. If you go to the extra lengths to get a job at this time of the year then the hard work will pay off."
