Underworld, The Libertines, Wu Tang Clan, Pendulum and more announced for Boomtown 2020

Organisers of Boomtown have unveiled a massive, genre-spanning lineup for this year's festival.

The annual extravaganza, which takes place at the Matterley Estate in Hampshire, is one of the most creative music festivals on the planet.

This year's event will feature a raft of massive acts including Wu Tang Clan, Underworld, Kano, Damian Marley, The Libertines, Mura Masa, Pendulum, Squarepusher and many more.

In total more than 160 acts have been revealed, who will perform across 27 main stages throughout 12 different districts which make up the cityscape of Boomtown’s fiesta.

Just some of the genres represented include folk, metal, world, roots, reggae, ska, neo soul, post punk, balkan, hip hop, jazz, two-tone, Americana, soundsystem culture, techno and house and drum & bass.

Other highlights among today's announcement include the powerful Princess Nokia, living legend Candi Staton, Boomtown stalwarts The Selecter, the hauntingly beautiful sounds of Sudan Archives, New Orleans soulful and funk-filled story tellers Tank and the Bangas and the politically acute messages of Akala.

Also drawing major crowds will be the gritty, hard-edged electro-techno of acclaimed Hamburg DJ and producer Helena Hauff , New York disco queen Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King, raucous London based Afro funk fusion collective Ibibio Sound Machine, plus rising stars Biig Piig and Greentea Peng.

Representing the broad span of house and techno are the likes of The Black Madonna, Maceo Plex, Eats Everything B2B Monika Cruz, Moodymann, Denis Sulta B2B Mella Dee and Crazy P, to name just a few.

Drum & bass fans certainly aren't short of options with heavyweights of the genre including Andy C, Noisia and Shy FX all announced, joining a raft of other top acts including LSB, Lenzman and Skeptical.

After first taking place in 2009, Boomtown combines a diverse lineup with a twisting storyline which develops every year, unfolding before the eyes of bewildered ticket-holders.

Each chapter in the tale has seen the addition of new characters and stages, including Banghai Palace and Sector 6, which both need to be seen in the flesh to be believed.

Organised from the festival's HQ on Albert Road in Bristol, the capacity of the Hampshire festival is increasing by 11,000 people in 2020 with a new licence of 76,999, meaning we can expect a host of exciting new additions.

Tickets for the twelfth edition of the annual spectacle can be found on Boomtown's website.
