'Underwhelming!' - Arsenal fans react as Raul Sanllehi 'sets his sights' on Nuno Espirito Santo

Reports that Nuno Espirito Santo has emerged as Arsenal's leading candidate to replace Unai Emery as head coach has got fans talking.

It's no secret that the Spaniard is under huge pressure following a disappointing start to his second season in charge.

His side are winless in the Premier League since early October and Saturday afternoon's 2-2 draw against Southampton has left them eight points behind London rivals Chelsea who currently occupy the final Champions League spot.

All of which has prompted speculation that Emery is facing the sack.

In fact, his position now said to be considered on a game-by-game basis, and the  Daily Mail claim that Gunners chief Raul Sanllehi could use his "long-standing relationship" with Santo's agent Jorge Mendes to manoeuvre a move for the Wolves boss.

Furthermore, the report claims that Santo is said to have impressed the Arsenal hierarchy with his job so far at Molineux after winning the Championship title in 2017 and solidifying their place in the Premier League with a seventh-placed finish last season.

This possible appointment would please former Arsenal star Paul Merson.

"I like the manager. I think they’re fortunate to have this manager, Wolves," he told Soccer Saturday. "I don’t mean that disrespectfully.

"I think he could manage one of the top six teams, no worries at all. I'd take him at Arsenal tomorrow morning."

But what do fans make of Nuno Espirito Santo to Arsenal?

As expected, this report has garnered a strong reaction on social media.
