The Renaissance was the pinnacle of artistic achievement in history. During this illuminating masterclass Guardian art critic Jonathan Jones and Dr Caroline Campbell, chief curator at the National Gallery, will demystify the origins of this fascinating era in history and explore key masterpieces, from The Birth of Venus by Botticelli to The Virgin of the Rocks by Leonardo da Vinci.

Over the course of the evening, you’ll discover the hidden meanings behind some of history’s most significant paintings. Plus, you’ll improve your understanding of the ‘rebirth’ of interest in classical art and learning from 14th century Italy to 16th century Europe. Suitable for art enthusiasts of all levels, or those new to art history, this masterclass will enrich your understanding of Renaissance painting – and help you to enjoy art more.
