'Understand the situation' - Steven Gerrard gives update in Rangers' chase for Liverpool's £7m Bristol City flop

Steven Gerrard says Rangers need to accept the situation regarding Ryan Kent.

The former Bristol City winger is currently in the wilderness at Liverpool having failed to secure a move away from Anfield this summer.

Rangers took Kent on loan last summer following a disappointing spell at the Robins and he impressed a lot at Ibrox.

Yet Liverpool are unwilling to loan Kent out again and instead want to sell him.

However, their asking prices of £12m and now £7m are too much for Rangers to afford, and Gerrard says there is not much they can do about the situation.

He told the Scottish Sun: “I don't really want to speak about it because nothing is happening on it.

“There's been no change or developments since the last time we asked Liverpool and were told there wouldn't be a loan situation.

“Nothing has changed on it.

“I made it pretty clear over the course of 12 months working with Ryan how highly I rate him, so I'd never shut the door on any player and certainly top players but I have to understand, respect and appreciate the situation of his parent club.

“If you're told no, you have to accept the answer is no.”
