Under pressure, Pakistan blame India for Hindu temple desecration

AMRITSAR: In a bizarre move, the Pakistan government blamed India for orchestrating an attack on a Hindu temple and desecration of idols of deities, and for the purpose Pak’s ISI got a video statement released from Gopal Singh Chawla, a known close aide of Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Sayed, whom India has already declared as a ‘controversial element’.

In over a four minutes video message, Chawla ridiculously claimed that the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) had planned the Hindu temple vandalism.

While censuring the incident of attack on Hindu temple, Chawla, in a mocking tone, said he on behalf of Punjabi Sikh Sangat to which Chawla is Chairman and Tariq Wazir Khan , secretary shrines, Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), is patron-in-chief condemn the attack on Hindu temple.

“This is the first of its kind incident in Pakistan against minorities” claimed Chawla while forgetting the January 2020 attack on Gurdwara Nankana Sahib by a local Muslim mob.

Ironically Chawla claimed that the investigations into the Nankana Sahib gurdwara attack and even the death of two Sikh activists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan revealed the hand of RAW.

“Pakistan government is under immense pressure and its think tanks couldn’t find any better pretext than throwing the responsibility on India which is their time-tested policy, “ said intelligence sources here.

In a run-up to the opening of Kartarpur Corridor, the Pakistan government was forced to oust Gopal Singh Chawla from both Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) as well as ETPB under India’s pressure ahead of the signing of Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of Kartarpur corridor after India had objected on the presence of 'controversial elements' in the committee’s.

Strangely, instead of focusing on the Sikh religious affairs, another statement was issued by Satwant Singh , president of PSGPC , a frontal organization of ISI run ETPB , expressing concern over the revocation of special status from Jammu and Kashmir by the Indian government. Satwant Singh who is facing opposition from within PSGPC has also reportedly chosen to pursue the agenda of ISI than Sikh religious agenda. In his statement, he talked about Youm-e-Istehsal (Day of Exploitation) being observed in Pakistan on August 5 to mark the second anniversary of the revocation of special status from Jammu and Kashmir.
