Under-14 tennis championship: Top seeds bow out

Tanush Ghildyal beat the top seed Samprit Sharma 6-1, 6-4 in the boys’ quarterfinals of the EMMTC National under-14 tennis championship on Thursday.

In the girls’ section also, the top seed Thaniya Gogulamanda was beaten 6-4, 6-3 by Aakruti Sonkusare in the quarterfinals.

The results: Boys (quarterfinals): Tanush Ghildyal bt Samprit Sharma 6-1, 6-4; Aradhya Kshitij bt Vyom Shah 6-3, 3-6, 6-3; Arnav Paparkar bt Rurik Rajini 7-5, 6-1; Pradyumna Tomar bt Anshit Deshpande 6-0, 6-4.

Doubles (semifinals): Samprit & Pradyumna bt Tanay Sharma & Yash Patel 6-1, 6-1; Tanush Ghildyal & Arnav Paparkar bt Hrishek Vavilapally & Dhiraj Reddy 6-1, 6-4.

Girls (quarterfinals): Aakruti Sonkusare bt Thaniya Gogulamanda 6-4, 6-3; N. Harshini bt Laxmi Dandu 7-5, 4-2 (conceded); Janvi Sai bt Rishitha Reddy 7-6(4), 6-0; Sohani Mohanty bt Manognya Madasu 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-4.

Doubles (semifinals): N. Harshini & Snigdha Kanta bt Maaya Rajeshwaran & Aishwarya Jadhav 2-6, 6-4, [12-10]; Rishitha Reddy & Sohini Mohanty bt Vennela REddy & Janvi Sai 3-6, 6-4, [10-8].
