Unconscious man rushed to hospital after falling off his bike in Morley

Police cordoned off a Morley road this morning after a cyclist came off his bike rendering him unconscious.

The accident, which is thought to have involved no other vehicles, happened at around 10.52am in Magpie Lane with passers-by rushing to help the man after his fall.

After police closed the road, an ambulance arrived to take the man to Leeds General Infirmary where he is being assessed.

A spokeswoman for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 10.52am this morning police received a report that a man had come off his bike on Magpie Lane, Morley, and was unconscious.

"Members of the public were at the scene administering help.

"An ambulance attended and the man (understood to be 34 years old) was taken to Leeds General Infirmary, where he is being assessed.

"The man’s partner is aware and in attendance at the hospital."
